In spite of having a newborn, we have been able to complete a few small projects around the house. Natalie is a very easy newborn (as far as newborns go), and my husband gets antsy without a to-do list!
Last fall I found the top of a hutch at the thrift store for $10. I can’t find a “before” picture, but think dirty brown/two doors with bad handles and you’re right on track. I didn’t know what in the world we were going to do with it, but I bought it anyways and added it to my pile of wood in the garage. After a few months of Andrew prodding me to figure out where it was going, we came up with the idea to repurpose it into a bathroom shelf!
Here is what we came up with:
We removed the doors, cut off the “legs”, sanded/stripped the dark wood stain, and repainted it grey to match. We turned it one rotation counter-clockwise to fit the space and secured it using the studs in the wall.
There is no linen closet in our bathroom and this is a great and attractive way to store our towels!
There is plenty of space behind the door to the shower room. Turning the hutch sideways adds some visual interest and gave me a pretty perfect spot to decorate. I picked up the vase at TJ Maxx and have had the cotton picks for years… when your last name is Cotten, some themed décor is a must.
And just because… a little ruffled booty. Our girl will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and time is flying!
