After having a baby, there is nothing I hate more than pulling on maternity clothes. This picture was taken before church two Sundays ago… I managed a non-maternity tunic top with below-the-belly maternity pants. It took some time to find what fit and I have to constantly remind myself not to get frustrated. I know, I know… “It took nine months to grow that baby and you have to be gracious with yourself…” Blah, blah, blah. I don’t care. To me, there is nothing worse than being sleep-deprived, pudgey, and hormonal with nothing to wear. At this point I can only control the last part of that equation, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite “fourth trimester” finds and trends!
First, let’s be practical… New moms are naked from the waist up 90% of the time the first month while trying to figure out nursing. In preparation, I picked up these crossover and nursing tops from Amazon, and I cannot say enough good things! The crossover tops are soft and long, and the material from the nursing tanks is thick and compressive. Plus, the colors are complimentary and mix/match so easily. Truth: nursing hasn’t gone well this time around either, but at least I was prepared!
One of my best friends is getting married in a few weeks, and because non-yogapant postpartum silhouettes require some extra thought I have treated myself to some new things in preparation for a fun weekend! I was excited to find this draped top and actually bought it in white and black! It can be layered, and the fit is great to hide a little belly.
I also found an LBD and am planning to pair it with statement shoes and earrings for the rehearsal dinner. Looking around on BaubleBar is always fun, and I am loving that big statement earrings are back in style! My mom gave me the black fringe pair by BCBG pictured below, and I’m sure I’ll wear them a ton.
I’m really loving the block heel trend. Probably because my knees and feet are sore from years of stilettos – ha! Zappos always has a good selection and here are a few of my favorite statement kicks (although some are a bit out of my price range! #agirlcandream)

Marc Jacobs

Sergio Rossi

Nanette Lapore

Ralph Lauren
One spring nail trend I am excited to try is metallics! Glamour has a great gallery of the upcoming polish trends and this really jumped out at me.
Of course I tuned in for the red carpet of the Oscars this past weekend! It was a little bit harder to come up with my best dressed list… I wasn’t blown away by anyone in particular, but here are a few things that caught my eye.
VELVET. I have always loved it. Brie Larson’s velvet ruffles and The Rock’s blue velvet tuxedo jacket were so luxe.
Accessories! Janelle Monae’s details are always noteworthy, Jessica Biel’s necklace was striking, and I thought Isabelle Huppert’s ear cuff was the perfect modern touch.
Chris Evans looked so sharp in his blue tux! Rock it out, Captain America!
Last but not least, my favorite new trend = baby headgear š
Thanks for following along!
Those tops are perfect! I want one. š And I want to try the metallic nail trend too…maybe rose gold? I can’t wait to see you! xoxo
