We moved into this new house last June and promptly started renovating everything in July. We have been here now for 9 months, completed a ton of projects, and are still plugging along. Overall the experience has been largely positive. I understand that DIY is not for everyone, but Andrew and I are having a great time working together.
I thought it would be fun to step back and see how the house has changed as a whole over the past nine months using simple before and after photos!
Note: I’m going to resist the (very strong) urge to insert the list of things that still need to be done in each room. I’m not blind, you’re not blind… They are there and probably more bothersome to me than to you. I could spend multiple paragraphs defending, buffering, excusing all the things that aren’t perfect. I could even say “that aren’t perfect ‘yet'” in an even more subtle attempt to guard myself against feeling like this isn’t good enough. But I’m not going to do that. Yes… Floors, counters, decorating, fixing, tweaking, re-doing, staging, and the list goes on. But instead of offering up a censored post about all the things we have yet to accomplish or attempting to (unsuccessfully) convince you that I’m living in a magazine, I am giving you this – the raw, undone, imperfect progress picture of what it has looked like to begin making our house into a home. Because that’s what is real, and real is important.
So here we go! Welcome to our home!

I’m at the end and this may be one of my favorite blog posts ever. There is so much hard work wrapped up in these pictures, and I am proud of us for making it this far with a moderate amount of blood and a lot of sweat… but only a few tears. At some point, I’ll share the list of this year’s to-do’s, but I think I’ll end it here for today.
Thank you all for your support as you have followed along on this journey!
